  • Lewes Community Acupuncture

Last updated at 16:41 on 11 June 2025

Founded by friends and fellow acupuncturists Grace Flynn and Benjamin Crisford, Lewes Community Acupuncture was created to provide high-quality, professional acupuncture treatments to the local community at an affordable price.

Our mission is to make the benefits of regular acupuncture accessible to as many people as possible. We offer a flexible, sliding-scale payment model, which allows you to choose a price that suits your budget—no proof of income required. Appointments are open to both new and returning clients, with no restrictions.

Our community acupuncture clinic is held in a 'multi-bed' setting, meaning several people are treated on separate treatment tables together in one large space. Acupuncture needles usually take 20-45 minutes to do their work, so the practitioner can place needles in one patient and leave them to relax before moving on to another patient. This way of working enables us to significantly reduce the price of each treatment for our patients.

While multi-bed clinics are relatively new to the West, in China it is considered normal to treat many people together, with private acupuncture appointments being less common. As well as benefitting from the lower price, many people prefer the experience of receiving acupuncture in a more communal atmosphere.

  • Yang Style Tai Chi 37 Step Form

Last updated at 11:19 on 25 June 2025

    The Tai Chi We Practise

Our classes begin by settling the mind and creating space.

We start each session with “Movement Zero” – also known as Open-Close or Hun Yuan Zhang. This foundational practice allows us to experience what it means to open the joints, relax the muscles, and synchronise movement with intention.

From here, we explore the Five Loosening Exercises, designed to train the body to move with natural connection through rising, falling, turning, and stillness.

The form we study is the 37-step Tai Chi form, passed down from Cheng Man-Ching and developed by Grandmaster Huang Sheng-Shyan. This form teaches us how to move as one integrated whole – with softness, clarity and internal strength.

    • Improve balance and coordination

    • Calm the nervous system and relieve stress

    • Reconnect to your centre – physically and energetically

    • Build strength without tension

    • Cultivate awareness and resilience

  • Gentle mobility Yoga

Last updated at 10:03 on 13 January 2026

This is an open class for people who want to experience gentle movement and mobility support.
It is tonic but gentle and fun. I like to bring joy and connection.  My classes are inspired from my practice of Kundalini, Chi-Kung and Dao Yin as well as my  practice of Shiatsu. I am interested in connecting people to their body through movement, breath and stillness. I like to create a space where people feel comfortable. My classes are for all bodies, and I adapt to the group as much as possible.

    Talk
    The Perils of Attachment
Our suffering does not arise from the things we own, the work we do, or the people in our lives, but from our attachment to them. Attachment limits our capacity to love and becomes the root of inner conflict. Non-attachment, on the other hand, leads to mental and emotional freedom. It is the practice of living with sensitivity and care, while cultivating equanimity and discernment amidst all our responsibilities and engagements with the world.

    Satsang
    Reclaiming Our Happiness
Reclaiming deep and lasting happiness often asks us to transform not just parts of ourselves, but the whole of our being. There are no shortcuts to awakening our true nature, but the journey itself is rich, rewarding, and filled with meaning.
In this talk, we will explore together:
    1.      The nature of true happiness — a clear and thoughtful look at what real happiness is (and what it is not).
    2.      The essential practices and attitudes — time-tested principles to help us cultivate joy, resilience, and fulfillment from within.
